Now an external DAC would indeed help if you: a) need more features/connectivity or b) your existing one (presumably integrated?) is introducing noise or interference to the sound. That shouldn't require special DACs to decode and play (as opposed to, say, native DSD stuff) as long your integrated audio supports the higher bit and sampling rates at play, like most modern computers should.
